February 2019 – We’re One Wilmington (WOW) is pleased to announce a new monthly recognition program for everyday people who are spreading kindness and positivity. The new program, entitled “Ordinary People, Extraordinary Hearts” will have open nominations throughout the year. A nominee will be selected by a committee of WOW members to be highlighted on the WOW website, in an article submitted to the Wilmington Apple and Wilmington Town Crier and in a television show aired and produced by WCTV on a monthly basis.
The program will also include an annual Awards Gala in November that will showcase the monthly recipients, the School Staff Recognition Award recipients, Scholarship recipients and grant recipients (the WOW grants will be launching in the next few months). The Gala will conclude with a “Extraordinary Heart of the Year” award based on an online vote that will be open to the community to select from the monthly recipients as well as the recipients of the other awards WOW has throughout the year. The criteria for this award need not be a Wilmington resident but must be active in the Wilmington Community in spreading kindness and positivity in the town.
Nominations can be emailed to ordinarypeople@onewilmington.org. Included in the email should be the name, email address and contact telephone number of the person being nominated as well as the reason the person is being nominated.
